Manny Aponte…

So I found out earlier this week that Manny Aponte had passed away. For those of you who didn’t know him, he was the Guest Services Rep at the disabled entry back by the Box Office while I was there (since moved on to Facility Patrol). For those of you that did know him, he was always such a pleasant person to talk to, and would always take the time to say hello to me when we would walk by on a game night.

Everytime I am in Tampa, and go to a Lightning game, I would always make sure to say hello, and check in how he is doing. I’m very saddened by his departure from this world.

He is survived by his daughter Liz, who is also works in Guest Services at the Forum. The Forum is in process of setting up a bank account/fund to help out the family. If you feel so inclined to donate, you can contact Debbie Nye at the building.

FYI, there will be a memorial for Manny at the Forum on February 13th at 6pm. I wish I could be there to pay my respects to a good man.

When putting together the “Tampa Bay Lightning Alumni” group through LinkedIn, the idea was to bring together the Lightning family (past and present employees, players & executive management) to share in discussions, updates, opportunities and other happenings.

Welcome Aboard Lightning Peeps!

Well, it’s taken some time to get back in the swing off things, Alot has changed since I first thought about putting this (blog) and group together. One of the things I do miss the most is my 10+ years with the Lightning organization, the experience is something that I would never trade in and the relationships that were forged will last a lifetime. Starting with an organization that was struggling and to watch it mature into one of the great Stanley Cup Champions of the NHL was “one in a million”. After spending time with the league office and helping with the re-launch of the NHL Network and NHL Teams sites it was time to move on and spend more quality time with my wife and twin boys (Dylan and Ryan). I’m now living in Charleston, South Carolina (Go Stingrays!) and working as the CTO of American Media Services Interactive, llc. I still get a chance to catch some games and still get the opportunity to work with individual NHL Teams (http://player.amsinteractive.com/nhl/predators). I look forward to catching up with all of you via this blog! Alot has been going on since we first started this group (through LinkedIn!) and I hope we can get everyone (in the group) engaged, up-to-date on happenings and other cool stuff.
